Cruz 3-4 as Scorpions Squeeze Past Caribbean
Scottsdale beat Caribbean at Scottsdale Stadium, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to right fielder Salvador Cruz, who earned player of the game honors. Scottsdale reliever Jung-sang Lee picked up the win to move to 1-0. Manuel Morales suffered the loss. The Commies fall to 6-8 and continue to sputter in the early going.

Cruz had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-0 fastball from Manuel Morales, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Scorpions a 5-4 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Cruz.

"We're just going to try to build off this win," said Cruz.
