The Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas defeated the Santa Barbara Suenos, 8-1, in Prince Fielder League action at Scripps Field, with Boca Raton pitcher Juan Duran named player of the game. The winning pitcher was Duran, now 3-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. With the loss, Santa Barbara falls to 7-6.
The Fighting Iguanas got a big at-bat from center fielder Juan Mendez. For the game, Mendez was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Boca Raton a 4-1 lead.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Duran said after the game.
