Fighting Camels Throttle Commies, 6-1
|
The Framingham Fighting Camels topped the Caribbean Commies, 6-1, in Prince Fielder League action at Castro Field. The player of the game was Framingham pitcher and Güira de Melena, Cuba native Francisco Rodríguez. In 5.2 innings, Rodríguez surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Vicente Banderas picked up the save for Framingham, his 1st of the year.
The Fighting Camels got a big at-bat from catcher Gerald Easler. For the game, Easler went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Framingham a 3-0 lead.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Easler said after the game.
The Commies fall to 4-7 and continue their uneasy start to the 2033 season.
