Victory Pushes Rangers Record to 7-4
|
The Brooklyn Cyclones got a superb performance from pitcher Jose Ortiz, but the Rockville Rangers still won the game, 4-1. Ortiz was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 8 innings of 7-hit ball. The winner was Rockville reliever Brett Johnston, now 1-0. The loser was Jose Ortiz. Losses have been few and far between for the Cyclones so far this season. Their record drops to 9-2.
Robby Gomez aided the Rockville cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the third baseman went 1-3 with a double.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Gomez told the Rockville News.
