Rail Riders Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
The Augusta Rail Riders topped the Rockville Rangers, 7-5, with youngster Justin Nichols playing a key role. Nichols went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Rail Riders in the win. Augusta is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 3rd in 10 games.
The Rail Riders got a big at-bat from third baseman Melvin Garza. For the game, Garza went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Augusta a 4-2 lead.
"Nice to get this one," said Garza. "Wins have been hard to come by."
