The Houston Sting scored a 5-4 win versus the Bethesda Hornets at Woodland Park. Houston pitcher M嫞imo 聲gel nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. The winner was Ed Gratton in relief. His record improves to 5-4. Eric Sauer took the loss. The Sting, at 90-73, lead by one game in their division.

Houston took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out, pinch hitter Neal Thacker hit a 2-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Houston manager H嶰tor Flores. "It's usually not just one thing."
