The Wichita Wolverines moved to within one game of the Double A World Series today, downing the Rock River Rats on the road at The Rat Hole by a score of 5-1. Wolverines left-hander Joe Kearns was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 9 innings of 4-hit ball. The win gives the Wolverines a 4-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Double A League Championship.

Kearns delivered a quality start for Wichita. The 6' 0" left-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits over 9 innings of work.

"I thought we played a nice game," Kearns told the Wichita Herald. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
