Road Win Lifts Rock River to 1-0 Lead in R1
The Rock River Rats started the Double A League Championship in style today, winning on the road against the Wichita Wolverines at Howling Park by a score of 4-1 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Rats right-hander Pat Beckett was named player of the game after he threw 8 innings allowing 1 run.

Tatsuhito Suzuki's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With no one out, he rapped a forkball from Al Hrabosky Jr. for a 3-run home run. It put Rock River in front, 4-1.

Wolverines manager Dave Moran did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the Double A World Series."

Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow. Slated to start are Lúcio Barrón for the Rock River Rats and Carlos Muńóz for the the Wichita Wolverines.
