Raucous The Rubber Grounds Crowd Propels Rhinos to 3-0 Victory; Series Tied at 1
|
In a crucial game, the Rubber City Rhinos put on their best show, beating the Dallas Texans by a final score of 3-0 today. Damien Sands earned player of the game honors, as he threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Rubber City and Dallas are now tied at 1 wins apiece in the best-of-7 affair.
Tied up with the Texans in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Rhinos got a boost from catcher Pete Bell. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Bell saw a 1-2 fastball from Damien Sands and hit a run-scoring double to break the stalemate and put Rubber City on top, 1-0.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Rubber City manager Larry Johnson. "It's usually not just one thing."
Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday. The scheduled starters for the game are Bob Ruíz for the Rubber City Rhinos and Paul Johnston for the the Dallas Texans.
