Hackers, Shamrocks Play 11 to Settle Game 1, Silicon Valley Now Leads Series 1-0
|
Pacifica Shamrocks manager Joe Leftwich took a gamble on 21-year-old starter Bobby Savoy. It paid off, but, unfortunately for the Shamrocks, little else did.
Despite getting a poised performance from the young right-hander, the Shamrocks lost 2-1 to the Silicon Valley Hackers at McCormick Field today. With the win, Silicon Valley took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 Double A League Championship.
Chris Hillier made it 2-1, Silicon Valley, in the top of the 11th when he grounded out, driving in 1 run. It was a big at-bat in the Hackers win.
"The rain was definitely not preferable," Hillier said. "It worked out fine I guess, but we'll be happy if we see the sun next time."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at McCormick Field in Pacifica. Slated to start are T.J. Sparks for Silicon Valley and Grant Huffman for Pacifica.
