Berg Handcuffs Cardinals, Patriots Seize 2-0 Advantage in R1
|
With starter Sam Berg leading the charge, the Francis Lewis Patriots defeated the Montreal Cardinals, 6-1, in Game 2 of the League Championship Series today. The right-hander threw 7 innings allowing 1 run at Nezahualcoyotl HS Grounds to help Francis Lewis take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Jimmy Theriot, who is rated as the 81st best prospect by BNN, chipped in for Francis Lewis with a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.
"I like our moxie," said Patriots manager Justin Easton.
Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday at Ottawa HS Grounds. Slated to start are Seth McBrayer for the Montreal Cardinals and Ray Cummings for the the Francis Lewis Patriots.
