Kawano, Francis Lewis Start Little League World Series Strong with Home Win
The Francis Lewis Patriots started the Little League World Series in style today, downing the visiting Jefferson Indians at Ottawa HS Grounds by a score of 8-3 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Patriots right-hander Katsutoshi Kawano was named player of the game after he threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball.

Kawano gave Francis Lewis a solid start. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits over 8 innings.

"This was a good win for us," said Kawano. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Ottawa HS Grounds. The scheduled starters for the game are Benny Bishop for Jefferson and Sam Berg for Francis Lewis.
