Indians Even With Islanders After Home Win
|
In a crucial game, the Jefferson Indians put on their best show, beating the Grand Island Islanders by a final score of 2-1 today. Richard Pupo earned player of the game honors, as he came in in relief and pitched to 20 batters . Jefferson and Grand Island are now tied at 1 wins apiece in the best-of-7 affair.
John Hadley, who is rated as the 60th best prospect by BNN, chipped in for Jefferson with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
Hadley said he "would like to have scored more runs for Lieber. But we'll gladly take this win."
Game 3 is set to be played Wednesday in Grand Island. The scheduled starters for the game are Kyle Simon for Jefferson and Travis Finch for Grand Island.
