Sycamores Hammered by Landry, Drop Game 4 to Bulldogs
|
On the verge of being swept and facing a red-hot Indiana State Sycamores team, the Fresno State Bulldogs had a tough assignment. Jimmy Landry delivered.
The Bulldogs right fielder was unstoppable for the visitors, as he went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice in guiding his club to its first victory of the series, 8-3. Landry, 20, was named player of the game for his efforts. The win means Fresno State now trails 3-1 in the best-of-7 series.
Landry had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth inning, when he hit a grand slam. The Bulldogs went on to win.
Landry called the win "a collective effort."
Game 5 is scheduled for tomorrow at Brooks College Grounds. The scheduled starters for the game are Tyler Petru for the Indiana State Sycamores and Larry Glenn for the the Fresno State Bulldogs.
