Pioneers Hope Win Turns Around Slow Start
Vancouver got a strong outing from Qi-chang Ec as the Pioneers defeated the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 7-2, at "The Fort" at B.C. Place. Vancouver reliever Alejandro García got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Ju-ao Ru was tagged with the loss. The win brings the Pioneers to 3-7, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.

Dan Rollins went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Vancouver. The 29-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ju-ao Ru. It was his 4th RBI of the season.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Rollins.
