Tigers Stymie Montreal, Take 4-1 Win
|
Tioga Central starter Corey Kellis put a stranglehold on the Montreal offense. The right-hander had complete command of his curveball in leading the Tigers to a 4-1 win. Kellis, now 3-0, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Brad Howard converted his 4th save in 7 tries.
Marcus Francis, who is tied for 6th in the PRL in bases on balls with 49, aided the Tioga Central cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the third baseman went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk.
In postgame comments to the Tioga Central Times, Francis said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Tigers own a robust 42-23 mark.
