Lancers Bang Out 7-6 Win Versus Topeka West
|
Eddie Lannigan did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Topeka West Chargers from losing, 7-6, to the Canby Lancers at Ballpark of Villahermosa HS. Lannigan was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Jim Casey got the win, improving to 5-6. He held the Chargers to 4 earned runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 8. Andy Fitzpatrick was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 16 save opportunities.
Joe Martin chipped in for Canby with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Martin told the Canby Chronicle.
The Lancers go to 35-29, putting them 4th in the Pete Rose League Roger Clemens Division.
