The Tioga Central Tigers defeated the Canby Lancers, 4-0, in Pete Rose League action at Ballpark of Villahermosa HS, with Tioga Central third baseman Marcus Francis named player of the game. Ricky Hartman, the winner, improved to 2-4. He held the Lancers to no earned runs on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 2. Daniel Wilson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 5 of 7 save opportunities.

When the Tigers needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Francis who delivered. Facing Canby pitcher Jeremy Lowery the top of the third with the bases empty, Francis hit his 12th home run of the year. It made the score 2-0.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Tioga Central manager Gabriel McKinnes.
