The Santa Clara Vampires picked up a win at Nezahualcoyotl HS Grounds, knocking off the Montreal Cardinals, 5-3. Starting pitcher Ben Brandstetter was an essential part of his team's success. Matt Reger converted his 8th save in 12 tries. Even with the win, the Vampires have a dismal 19-38 record.

Santa Clara relied on the hitting of Jan Cook to pick up the win. The shortstop ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the fourth inning to put the Vampires on top, 4-1. For the game, Cook had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"I liked his command," said Santa Clara manager Juan Proenza. "Ben was throwing strikes."
