Morris Helps Topeka West Cruise to 11-3 Win
|
The Topeka West Chargers handed the Billings West Golden Bears a sound defeat, 11-3, at Guadalajara HS Grounds. Nick Morris was a main contributor to the win. He belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5 for Topeka West. Chris Marks, the winner, improved to 6-1. He held the Golden Bears to 3 earned runs on 4 hits over 8.1 innings, while striking out 10 and walking 2. Topeka West is 34-23 and Billings West, with the loss, 27-30.
The Chargers got a big at-bat from shortstop Jonathan Rauh. For the game, Rauh went 4 for 5 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. In the top of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 2nd triple of the season gave Topeka West a 3-1 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Morris told the Topeka West Chronicle.
