Tigers Get Past Santa Clara for 5-4 Win
|
Santa Clara second baseman Kelly Thomas had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-4, to Tenafly at Ballpark of León HS. Thomas was 4-4 with 4 singles. He drove in 3 runs. Earning his 7th save for Tenafly was Justin Swiss. Their 24-30 record puts the Tigers third in the Pete Rose League Alex Rodriguez Division.
Had Jesse Wyatt not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Wyatt hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Tigers.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Santa Clara manager Juan Proenza.
