Rubber City Rhinos starter Tom Hanson was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the San Diego Hops, 4-3. Hanson got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 7 hits and walked 1 over 7.2 innings. Hanson allowed 2 earned runs. Shinzo Sasaki earned save number 4.
Pete Bell aided the Rubber City cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the second. For the game, the catcher was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Hanson, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Rubber City, at 8-1, has sizzled in the early going.
