Lancers Stymie Derby, Take 4-1 Win
|
The Canby Lancers relied on the hitting of designated hitter Isaac Chester to stop the Derby Panthers, 4-1. For the game, Chester was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Matt Lira picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-1. He struck out 12 in 7 innings. The Lancers bumped their record to 28-24 with this latest triumph.
The Lancers got a big at-bat from right fielder Gabriel Bolten. For the game, Bolten was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 11th home run of the season gave Canby a 2-1 lead.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Bolten said.
