Jacksonville State and Kearny High duked it out at Loggers Ballpark and the Jaguars came out victorious.
The Jacksonville State Jaguars downed the Kearny High Cardinals, 5-4, at Loggers Ballpark. Erik Zacharias led the way, going 2-for-4 for Jacksonville State. Andrew Harris earned the win for Jacksonville State. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 12 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 3-2. Wyatt Pinnell earned the save for Jacksonville State, his 3rd.
Zacharias contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Jacksonville State in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-1, Zacharias took a sinker from Chase Dufel and stroked the home run to right. His 23rd home run of the season allowed the Jaguars to leap in front, 4-3.
"We take it day by day here," said Zacharias, "and today was a good one for us."
Kearny High's current losing streak has reached 5 games.
