Lions Bang Out 9-6 Win Versus Topeka West
|
The Topeka West Chargers got a sterling performance from left fielder Dustin Noah, but the Lions still prevailed, 9-6. Noah was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Lerna reliever Jeff Roe picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Josh Alcorn absorbed the loss. Lerna now sits in 5th place in the Pete Rose League Alex Rodriguez Division at 19-28.
Had Mike Hensley not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Hensley hit a 2-run single. That made the score 8-6, in favor of the Lions.
"It was a solid team effort," said Hensley after the game.
