Tigers Turn Back Downsview, 6-5

The Tioga Central Tigers beat the Downsview Mustangs, 6-5 at Visigoths Stadium, in part due to first baseman Wade Newman, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Pat Bonham, the winner, improved to 7-1. He held the Mustangs to 4 earned runs on 5 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 4. Harry Dougherty recorded the save for Tioga Central, his 2nd of the season.
Brendan Grimes, who is rated as the 48th best prospect by BNN, chipped in for Tioga Central with a 3-run home run in the top of the third. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
