Patriots Bang Out 6-4 Win Versus Santa Clara
|
George Washington right-hander Randy Musgrave pitched his team to victory over the Santa Clara Vampires at Osprey Ballpark. The final score was 6-4. In 7.2 innings, Musgrave surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Mike Esterline recorded the save for George Washington, his 5th of the season.
The Patriots got a big at-bat from left fielder Brad Patton. For the game, Patton was 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 34th hit of the season gave George Washington a 4-2 lead.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Patton told the George Washington Times. "It's as simple as that."
Even with the win, the Patriots have a dismal 13-34 record.
