Lancers Turn Back Billings West, 5-3
|
The game between Canby and Billings West is in the books, despite a little rain.
The Canby Lancers defeated the Billings West Golden Bears, 5-3. Earning player of the game honors was third baseman Bryce Pope, who went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Andy Fitzpatrick was called on to finish, recording his 10th save.
In the bottom of the 6th, first baseman Jonathan Coles gave Canby the lead when he hit a 2-run double. The Lancers had been trailing 3-2, but the two-out double off Billings West pitcher Billy Bell changed that -- and Canby went on to win.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Canby manager Cody Coffman.
The Lancers, now at 25-22, know that wins in April count the same as wins in September.
