Panthers Fall Short at Topeka West
|
Topeka West and Pleasantville duked it out at Breakers Ballpark and the Chargers came out victorious.
The Topeka West Chargers took Pleasantville pitcher Kevin Miller's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Breakers Ballpark. The final score had Topeka West getting past the Panthers, 4-3. Miller went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs, striking out 7. The winner was Topeka West reliever Randy Mawhirter, now 3-1. The loser was Adam Hauschild.
The Chargers got a big at-bat from first baseman Mike Guth. For the game, Guth was 2 for 6 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 54th hit of the season gave Topeka West a 4-3 lead.
"It was terrific getting this win," Guth said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
Topeka West has an impressive 31-15 record.
