The Downsview Mustangs defeated the San Marin Mustangs, 5-4, in Pete Rose League action at Visigoths Stadium, with Downsview designated hitter William Nowell named player of the game. Reliever Doug Locastro picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. John King took the loss. The win boosts the Mustangs to 20-25. The loss puts the Mustangs at 19-26.
Late-game drama came in the bottom of the ninth inning. With two out and runners on 1st and 3rd, the batter, Dallas Lingo, hit a single. It helped Downsview seize the win.
"I still have a lot of confidence in this team," Downsview manager Ralph Prince said afterward.
