St. Petersburg's Cardona Will Miss Season Wednesday, July 21st, 2032 The season is finished for Nelson Cardona of the St. Petersburg Pelicans. The club announced today that he will forego the rest of the year because of injury. The Pelicans reliever suffered a torn flexor tendon in his elbow while throwing a pitch in a recent game against the Palm Beach Bums. Team doctors said it would take at least 8 months to heal. During this season he has made no relief appearances, earning a 5-8 record with no saves. In 88 innings Cardona has struck out 66 with a 5.42 ERA. |
