Marrero Sensational, 5-for-5
Wednesday, October 8th, 2031
There was no storybook ending. José Marrero of the Charleston Panthers socked it to the visiting Coney Island Cyclones with a terrific 5-hit game today, but his team didn't get the win. The Panthers fell, 11-10, at Franklin Mountains Field.
"I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here," Marrero complained following the loss. "When you have a great game you should win the game, too."
He definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 5 at-bats. Charleston manager Ánibal Machado sympathized with his left fielder, telling BNN reporters after the game that "José played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough."
José Marrero hit an RBI single in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th, tripled in the 9th and singled in the 10th.
So far this season Marrero is batting .289 with 5 home runs.
