Carpenter Strokes 5 Hits Wednesday, August 27th, 2031 Even as a kid, Colin Carpenter said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Old Bay Park today, Carpenter showed how well he learned that lesson. The 20-year-old right fielder had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Baltimore Blue Claws, helping his team knock off the Kingwood Knights by a score of 10-1. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today." Colin Carpenter hit a solo-shot off Ryouhei Kondo in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Steve Cherry in the 8th.
