Martínez No-Hits Dancin' Outlaws
Tuesday, June 24th, 2031
Excitement reigned at Penlee Park today as Houston Sting hurler Javier Martínez tossed a baseball rarity -- a no-hitter.
After defeating the West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws, 2-0, he was swamped by reporters in the clubhouse for postgame comments.
"I'm just glad to be here," Martínez said. "Today I just went right at the Dancin' Outlaws as hard as I could, as long as I could."
Martínez chalked up 11 strikeouts and allowed 5 walks in his superb performance.
"I don't think they could have stopped him with a howitzer today," said Houston manager Robby Tate.
This year Martínez has recorded a 7-5 mark. In 13 starts he has fanned 77 batters in 68.1 innings with a 3.95 ERA.
