Panganiban 5-for-6 for Charleston
Thursday, June 12th, 2031
The 5th time was not the charm for Zainal Panganiban today.
The first baseman for the Charleston Panthers hit the milestone today at The Reservation, but it was the Chippewa River Chiefs that salvaged a 13-7 victory. Panganiban finished with a 5-for-6 line at the plate, and it still wasn't enough.
"He was not an easy out, that's for sure," Chippewa manager Bruce Leah said to the press in the postgame interview. "I'm just glad we held everybody else in check and got the win."
Panganiban declined to speak to reporters at length following the game, saying only that "no loss is a good one."
Zainal Panganiban singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Obke van der Haar in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
In his stats this season, Panganiban has posted a batting average of .258 with 40 hits in 155 at-bats, 15 home runs and 31 RBIs. He has also scored 28 runs, walked 19 times and compiled a .345 OBP.
