Sanders Slams 5 Hits for Newark Wednesday, September 3rd, 2031 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Ronald Sanders today -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage and sparkled on the diamond at Cobras Ballpark, but the performance lost a little luster when the Jail Birds were downed 9-8 by the Wichita Wolverines. After his glittering performance, the Newark left fielder told the press that he "just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat." His batting theory paid dividends today as he slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. "I just wish we had added a win in the record book today, too," Sanders said. Ronald Sanders hit a two-run home run off Carlos Mendoza in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
