The Spokane third baseman was pure misery for the Cincinnati pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting. "Kato put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said John Justin, manager for the Snaps, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." Masanori Kato hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Steve Gould in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 7th.
