García Announces He's Running for Congress Friday, November 19th, 2032 Former Bronx left fielder Octávio García announced today that he intends to seek the nomination for U.S. Representative. The recently-retired García has been rumored for some time to be contemplating a run for political office. The announcement means the popular ex-player will face an uphill battle next year as he attempts to unseat an equally popular incumbent. "It's not easy making the transition from professional athlete to politician," said García this afternoon in front of an enthusiastic crowd of supporters.
