Bernard and Gates Suspended, Out 2 Games Tuesday, August 31st, 2032 Baseball confrontations occasionally get intense and sometimes that tension becomes too much and boils over into more than just words. This time it happened to Acapulco's Jean Bernard and Joplin's Dennis Gates. The two were the main participants in a fight that cleared the benches. Today both were suspended by the league for 2 games for their aggressive actions. "I hope things settle down now," the manager of the Fireballs said later. "There's no reason for us to be locked in a cycle of revenge. We all need to focus on baseball instead." So far this year, Bernard is batting .290 with 2 home runs and 20 RBIs. On the year Gates has worked 39.2 innings with 30 strikeouts en route to a 0-5 record and 5.45 ERA. |
