Injury Sidelines Mike Bunch For Year
Tuesday, August 24th, 2032
Vancouver reliever Mike Bunch could miss the remainder of the season because of shoulder inflammation. He exited yesterday's Albuquerque game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Bunch would be out 5-6 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."
This season Bunch has chalked up no saves, notched a 0-1 record with a 4.97 ERA, allowed 10 hits in his 12.2 innings of work, struck out 9 and walked 7. Opponents are hitting .217 against the Vancouver hurler.
