Freeze Chill Hilder's Hot Streak
Wednesday, June 23rd, 2032
Astoria left fielder Richard Hilder came into today's game against the Minneapolis Freeze on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Freeze did their jobs well, beating the Astoria Argonauts 8-5 and holding Hilder hitless to snap his 21-game hitting streak. The 29-year-old left fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-4, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Richard did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Argonauts manager Tony Allison. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 21 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
Hilder is swinging at a .322 pace on the year with 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and 6 runs scored. He has played in 14 games.
