Hits Galore: Oakes Drills 5 Hits Thursday, July 31st, 2031 5 hits in a game is a rare thing, but Fairfield's John Oakes made it happen today against the Bombers. Everything came together at the plate for the 27-year-old shortstop as he collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats -- and led the Flash to a 13-5 win at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. "I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Oakes said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats today. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em." John Oakes hit a solo-shot off Matt Howard in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th. Currently Oakes is batting .476 with 2 home runs and 12 RBIs.
