Gómez Smacks 5 Hits for Black Knights
Friday, August 27th, 2032
Even as a kid, Tony Gómez said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Debris Field today, Gómez showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 22-year-old shortstop had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Brooklyn Black Knights, helping his team knock off the Kansas City Tornadoes by a score of 16-2.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today."
Tony Gómez doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 6th and flied out in the 9th.
This season Gómez is batting .227 with 39 hits, 7 home runs, 24 RBIs, 13 walks, .291 OBP and has scored 21 runs. He has played in 47 games.
