No Comeback Likely For Joe Young, Career Probably Over
Friday, August 27th, 2032
"It's one of the worst injuries of its kind I have ever encountered." Those were the opening words of the specialist that treated Vancouver Pioneers left fielder Joe Young for a torn back muscle. Speaking at a press conference, the doctor went on to say, "In my professional opinion, it is highly doubtful that Joe will ever play baseball again. Miracles are always possible, but not in this case. The original injury was treatable, but several setbacks during the rehabilitation worsened the situation and did more damage." The distraught Young also spoke to reporters, saying, "I anticipated that the recovery would be slow, but I never expected this." Team officials said that the 35-year-old Young would take a few weeks to decide about his future.

Young is hitting at a .288 mark this season. His stats show 15 home runs, 46 RBIs and 33 runs scored. He has played 73 games for the Pioneers.
