July's Best Rookie Honored by RCL Sunday, August 1st, 2032 When you think of rookies, you think of men in their early to mid-20's. Despite the fact that Juan Calderon is 32, he made a big splash by putting up solid numbers to win Roberto Clemente League Rookie of the Month honors. He told BNN reporters at the press conference, "I'm thrilled beyond words. All I can say is... better late than never." In July, the Dallas center fielder hit .280 while rapping out 26 hits, 8 home runs, 16 RBIs and 16 runs scored. In the current season, Calderon has put up a .263 batting average with 80 hits, 14 home runs, 36 runs batted in and scored 50 runs. |
