Havana Whitewashed by Byrd
Saturday, July 3rd, 2032
Clarence Byrd put a hex on the Havana Stogies in a sparkling 3-0 shutout performance, mesmerizing them on a 2-hit gem.
"I felt good physically," he said after the game. "Everything's comfortable. You should pitch well when that's the case."
The Stogies were anything but comfortable against the 31-year-old Brooklyn Black Knights hurler, who fanned 8 and gave up 0 walks.
"Byrd used his changeup very well, very effectively," said opposing manager Reynaldo Vázquez. "He threw it in hitter's counts."
Presently Byrd has a 6-5 mark in 15 starts with a 2.91 ERA. He has given up 96 hits in 108.1 innings, struck out 79 and issued 32 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .243 batting average against him.
