Blair Gets 5 Hits
Saturday, May 8th, 2032
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Ralph Blair, it came around today.
The 30-year-old catcher scattered hits all over Sick's Stadium to pace the Portland Beavers to a 18-6 victory over the Seattle Sasquatch.
Seattle skipper Carl Best told reporters in the press room that "Blair deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Blair hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Ralph Blair singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Ch'ang-chieh Tann in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
This year Blair is hitting .322, produced 18 RBIs and 5 home runs, scored 19 times and gotten on base at a .382 rate.
