Toreros SP Steamer Tosses Masterpiece Wednesday, September 17th, 2031 It wasn't easy but Joey Steamer made it look that way. Steamer silenced the Portland Beavers, 9-0, in a Cabo San Lucas Toreros triumph at Waterfront Park today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Steamer said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up no walks and 5 hits. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else." Steamer has made 28 starts, tossed 190 innings, struck out 170 batters and walked 48. His record is 13-11 with a 3.55 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .264 batting average.
