Texans Blank Duke City, Piece Winner
Thursday, August 28th, 2031
The Duke City Danger were almost helpless today in their 3-0 loss to the Dallas Texans and hurler Benjamin Piece. Piece kept the Danger confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Piece," Duke City manager Larry Johnson said in his postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 26-year-old right-hander had no walks and 5 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Piece said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
So far in 24 appearances this season, Piece has recorded 7 wins and sustained 9 losses. He has pitched 156.2 innings, yielded 162 hits, fanned 124 and has a 3.85 ERA.
