Nutting goes 3-for-4, Leads Indians to Win
|
Jefferson and Lerna duked it out at Ballpark of Ecatepec HS and the Indians came out victorious.
The Jefferson Indians beat the Lerna Lions, 7-6, at Ballpark of Ecatepec HS. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Chris Nutting, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 2. Jefferson reliever Tom Hite picked up the win to move to 1-0. Jesus Ayon suffered the loss.
It could have been a different outcome for Jefferson, had it not been for Lance Neal, the 17-year old second baseman . Neal contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put Jefferson up, 2-0.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Neal said.
Jefferson leads the Hank Aaron League Willie Mays Division by 2 games.
